Five on Friday

{ONE}
Today, my baby is 7 months old.

{TWO}
Tuesday I started the workout videos for 21 Day Fix EXTREME, and I am SORE! I knew I was out of shape, but man, I am out of shape. I am only 3 days in, and I am down about 2lbs. I am making myself eat better. Trying not to do sweets. I want to be down 10 pounds, and in shape before January. I CAN DO IT!
I did not buy any of the Shakeology, has anyone has good results with the Shakeology? It is expensive.

{THREE}
I am a sucker for Old Navy Sales. My go to pair of skinny jeans just got a hole in the knee, yes I wore them that much. You know when you find a pair of jeans that fit, its hard not to wear them daily.
 So, I decided to try these Rockstar Skinny's from Old Navy. My sister loves them. Yes, I purchased all 3.

{Four}
Josh and I will be going to San Diego in January, and it will be right around my 30th Birthday. We are going with some of his co-workers, and we are signed up to go to the San Diego Zoo and get a tour of the USS Midway.
I love WINE and want to go to a winery to celebrate my birthday, so I've been looking some up. I found this one, La Jolla Wine Tours, but if anyone has any suggestions on a different one, please let me know.

I've also looked into doing a Pedal Pub Tour with everyone.

 {Five}
We have Joelle's baby shower this weekend, and are counting down the days until we get to meet her sweet sweet baby!

Healthy Egg Muffins

These are easy, and you all know I like easy!
Sometimes in the mornings when I am running around getting myself ready, Hadley ready, Daisy fed, etc etc, I just wish I had pre-made something the night before to eat for breakfest. This way I do not have the temptation to go purchase a donut. So, last night, I made these Healthy Egg Muffins.
{Sorry, the picture is not the best, but trust me they were delicious.}
Ingredients:
  • 12 Eggs
  • Broccoli (I just used left over broccoli from dinner the night before), and you could use any vegetable you would like.
  • 1/2 Cup Onion, chopped
  • 1 Garlic Clove, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to Taste
  • Couple splashes of Almond Milk
  • I added a 1/2 piece of bacon to 6 of them for my husband (not pictured)
Instructions:
  • Slice all the vegetables.
  • Pre-Heat the oven to 350 degrees
  • Beat all 12 eggs
  • Mix in vegetables and spices
  • Pour into greased muffin tins
  • Cook for 20 - 25 minutes
  • Enjoy!
You really could add any kind of vegetables or spices to these muffins! You could even add turkey sausage if you wanted.

Hello Fresh

I am a total sucker for boxes. I've tried Birch Box, Popsugar, Bluum Box, and the list goes on. I am an avid blog reader...like 20 + blogs I read, and I learn so much from each of them. Anyways, one of them had a post on a box called Hello Fresh. Of course, I had to look into this. It is a meal service that ships to your house. {Before Hadley, I was able to go to the grocery store any time I wanted, now that I have Hadley, it makes it harder to go as often as I would like to keep all the fresh veggies and fruit around. Then I've been stocking up, and a lot of it goes to waste, because I do not use it fast enough.}

Hello Fresh has been AWESOME. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. They have 5 different meals each week, and you can choose 3 of those meals to be delivered to your house. It comes with ALL the ingredients, and just enough that nothing goes to waste. It is $69 a week, which sounds like a lot, but when I do the figuring, it actually is not too bad. It saves me time, the meals are planned for me, I don't throw stuff away and waste. It also keeps me eating healthy. I do have a coupon code for anyone who wants to try for $20 off their first week {$29 for a week}, which makes it reasonable to try. {Use Code N9MLLD} and Thank me later!

I took some photos of my meals from my iphone, so they aren't professional, but here they are.
 Top photo: How it comes packaged
Bottom photo: One-Pot Mexican Quinoa with Sweet Corn, Avocado and Feta (this made like 4 meals for me)
 Vietnamese Beef Stir Fry with Basil, Coconut Rice, and Crispy Green Beans.
 Coriander & Cumin-Crusted Chicken with Israeli Couscous Salad, Roasted Zucchini and Caramelized Lemon. Made 3 meals!
 This was one of my favorites. Brussels Sprout & Prosciutto Flatbread with Fresh Pest and Mozzarella. DELISH!

My favorite meal so far was Panko-Crusted Trout with Lemon-Butter Sauce, Parsnip Mash, and Crispy Broccoli. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture because we devoured it before I remembered to take a photo!

Everything comes very fresh, and is packaged with freezer packs and fully insulated.

Let me know if you try this out, and if you love it as much as I do!

6 Months: Hadley Marie

My baby is 6 months old. It is amazing how much she has grown in the last 6 months.
Weight: 16 lbs
Height: 26.5 inches

This little girl sure can light up a room. She is such a happy baby, even at 7am when I go into her room to wake her up for the day. She wakes up with a HUGE smile on her face.

She has her two bottom front teeth. She can roll over front to back, and back to front. She sleeps with her butt up in the air, and I adore that. She talks and talk and talks, and I look forward to the day she can say dad or mom! She is army crawling around, and I know it won't be long until she is crawling all over the place.

She goes to bed between 7 and 8 pm, and she tells us when she is ready for bed. Sometimes she will still wake in the middle of the night, but I don't mind it (unless its 4 or more times a night, like when those two teeth were coming through).

Hadley doesn't like to be left alone for too long, she always likes to have mom and dad in the same room with her. This makes it hard to get much done around the house before her bed time, but I know that stuff can get done at another time.

Josh and I were able to take her on her first air plane ride last weekend. We flew down to Florida to visit our friends who were visiting from The Netherlands. It's always nice to see them, and they have a 4 year old daughter, who Hadley enjoyed playing with.

Here are some of the pictures from the past couple of months....
Hadley admiring her daddy on the airplane. She didn't really fuss on the place! YAY!
Floortja and Haley (our Dutch friend)

 Sitting up like a big girl!
She loves her doggy!

I need to get back into the healthy eating again, so I am going to start posting some yummy recipes on here again!!

4 months: Hadley Marie

Today we had Hadley's 4 month appointment.

Weight: 13 lbs 14 oz
Height: 24.5 inches

She is under the 50% percentile for everything.

I am completely obsessed with this little girl, I am not sure if that is good or bad, but I do not care. I love coming home after work and spending the evenings with her. Her biggest milestone the last month is that she is now rolling over. She is also starting to play with toys. It has been such a joy to watch this little girl grow.
Here are a few of my favorite photos over the past month!

The Power of Breastfeeding

I am a huge advocate for breastfeeding...for many reasons. Not only does it benefit your baby, but it also benefits YOU!

It started as one of the hardest things I think I've ever done. Hadley latched on well, but the pain....oh the pain for the first two weeks was miserable. I stuck through it though, and it has been an amazing experience.

Because I am a working mom, I've been pumping. Yes, this is a lot more extra work, but it is worth it to me to be able to feed my baby. I am not against Formula at all, I just had the desire to breastfeed/pump, and it has worked well for Hadley and myself.

I pump 5:30am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, sometimes at 6:30pm and then last pump is around 9 -9:30pm. I never pumped in the middle of the night, when Hadley wasn't sleeping through the night, I would just breastfeed her, this was easiest for me. I started giving Hadley Breast milk in a bottle early on, just so she would get use to it for when I went back to work.

My goal is to make it to 6 months, which is only 2 month away....and then from there, I might continue....or I might not. I haven't decided yet. I have a TON frozen, and will feed Hadley that, and would love to make it closer to a year.

Freezing - you will need a LOT of storage space is you are going to go this avenue. Probably your own Deep Freeze, just for the milk.

I gained a good amount of weight through my pregnancy. Breastfeeding has helped me lose most of my baby weight I gained. I have around 5 more pounds to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but would love to lose another 15 pounds. I am struggling right now to find time for myself, and getting away long enough to get a work out in.

Additional Tips for Pumping Moms:
  • Buy yourself MULTIPLE hands free Bras
  • Milk Storage Bags
  • Extra Pumping Parts
  • Car Outlet Charger for Pump
  • Embrace it!
  • Relax while you are pumping.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Let your spouse care for your baby while you are pumping!

If anyone has any additional questions on my breastfeeding journey, feel free to e-mail me at haley.thygesen@gmail.com.

3 month: Hadley Marie

She melts my heart! I can't beleive she is 3 months already. It has been so fun watching her grow. The best part is when it's time for her to get up in the morning, she is laying in the crib with a huge smile on her face.
loves:
SMILING, without a doubt.
Talking
Standing
Sitting like a big girl.
Snuggling

dislikes:
Not getting a bottle right away when she is hungry.
Daisy barking sometimes scares her lately.

We have adjusted well for me going back to work, and Hadley going to "daycare". She gets to spend some of the days with her grandmas and the other with a friend down the street from us. I miss Hadley like crazy during the days!

Here are a couple of my favorite photos over the last month!
